Auto electrical for the gear
that has to work Monday.
Trucks, tractors, forestry gear and earthmoving plant, plus the cars and caravans that come through Tumut every week. Family owned and run on Vyner Street since 2007, with a mobile service and 24 hour breakdown assistance across the Snowy Valleys.
Most auto sparkies stop at the car park. We do not.
Andrew Bowden Auto Electrical specialises in heavy vehicle, farm, forestry and earthmoving auto electrical and air conditioning. That means the log truck, the header, the loader and the ute all get looked after by the same shop, and there is a full parts and battery counter on site so the part is usually already here.
Cannot get the machine in? There is a mobile service and 24 hour breakdown assistance, so we come to it.
Heavy vehicle auto electrical
Trucks, prime movers and trailers. Diagnostics, wiring, lighting and the electrical faults that put a truck off the road.
Farm and forestry machinery
Tractors, harvesters and forestry gear. We work on the machines that keep the Snowy Valleys going, not just what fits through a workshop door.
Earthmoving equipment
Loaders, excavators and dozers. Auto electrical work on plant, on site or in the workshop on Vyner Street.
Air conditioning sales and service
Vehicle and machinery air conditioning, supplied and serviced. A hot cab is a long day, so it is worth getting right.
Batteries and dual battery systems
A full battery wall in the shop, including Century Hi Performance and Deep Cycle, plus dual battery setups for utes, caravans and campers.
Driving lights and LED light bars
Lighting supplied and fitted, from spotties and light bars to work lights on machinery.
Alternators, starters and wiring
Charging faults, no-starts, wiring, relays and the intermittent gremlins nobody else wants to chase down.
4WD and side by side fitouts
Bullbars, winches and light bars fitted to utes, 4WDs and side by sides. Have a look at the pair of Kubota RTVs in the photos below.
Plant, forestry and farm gear, wherever it has stopped.
Tumut runs on softwood and farming, and none of it waits for a workshop booking. When a loader or a harvester goes down, the electrical fault gets chased on site, with the parts van and the gear to do it properly.
- Diagnostics on trucks, tractors and plant
- Charging and starting faults
- Machinery air conditioning
- Work lighting and wiring looms

A proper parts shop, not a catalogue and a three day wait.
The workshop carries an extensive range of auto electrical parts, and a full wall of batteries including Century Hi Performance and Deep Cycle. Come in and grab what you need, or have it fitted while you are here.
The shop sits behind the Tumut Truck & Tractor sign at 43 Vyner Street. Same building, same family, same phone.

Half of these are from people who broke down passing through.
Caravan brakes on the Snowy Mountains Highway, a Cortina GT on its way to Bathurst, a camper with a flat battery. Andrew tends to stop what he is doing.
Called in to Andrews as we were having trouble with our caravan breaking system. He was up to his eye balls in work but stopped to check our system. Not only did he fix our breaks but he used cable ties to improve our towing cable location etc. Such a friendly and helpful man. Definately recommend and we were so very grateful to continue on our journey safely. Thanks so much Andrew. Di and Shannon
Recently had caravan brake issues in Tumut. We suspected Auto Electrical dramas were the cause. Andrew went out of his way to guide us through every possible cause, can't thank him enough for his service and will always promote him at every opportunity. Dave F.
Andrew went out of his way to help us to keep driving to Bathurst in our classic cars, diagnosed and worked after hours to fit a new starter motor in my cousin's Cortina GT to keep us moving. He was flat out and dropped everything to help us, top bloke, highly recommended.
Lisa and Andrew, what a team!. Had a CX5/camper with battery issues. Andrew stopped whatever he was doing, spent 20-30 minutes diagnosing issue, replaced battery and before Lisa had sorted paper work out had reversed car/van and was retuning radio!. Many thanks to you both, Andrew knows his stuff and Lisa keeps front office ticking over
Andrew and the team fitted us in at short notice near Christmas. We were travelling through and had an auto electric issue. They fixed the issue, explained everything that needed to be done and what work they did. I can't thank them enough. Excellent work and customer service. Highly recommended

A family business in the foothills of the Snowy Valleys.
Andrew Bowden started the business in Tumut in 2007 and it became a company in 2016. It has stayed exactly what it was: family owned and operated, with Andrew on the tools and Lisa keeping the front office ticking over.
The work today covers everything from a caravan brake controller to the electrics on a forestry machine. It is the same answer either way: have a proper look, explain what it needs, and get you moving again.
Vyner Street, most days of the week.

Tumut, Adelong, Gundagai, Tumbarumba and surrounds.
If you are further out and the machine cannot move, ring anyway and we will work something out.
Tell us what it is doing.
Ring the mobile for anything urgent or out on site. The shop number gets you the parts counter during the week.
